WIRE CELL SCULPTURE

What type of cell?

Pulmonary Endothelial cell that is a specialized epithelial cell

What animal, microbe, or virus is it from??

This cell is from the human body. It is found in the blood vessels of the lungs. It is part of the circulatory system and the respiratory system. This cell aids in oxygen and carbon dioxide exchange with the alveoli. It helps maintain lung tissue homeostasis and helps with the lung barrier integrity and function.

Specific design features?

The design element I focused on most in my cell was the mitochondria. Since having a high number of mitochondria is crucial for the cell's proper function, I wanted to reflect that. To represent the abundance of these organelles, I created spirals of wire and arranged them around the nucleus.
